According to a statement from New Hampshire State Police, troopers were responding to a domestic violence report on the southbound side of Interstate 93 shortly before 10 p.m. While officers and fire crews were on scene, a two-vehicle crash unfolded across the motorway on the northbound side, involving Giuliani’s rented SUV.
Both vehicles were heavily damaged after careering into the central median. Emergency personnel attending the domestic violence call witnessed the crash and crossed the motorway to provide aid. Giuliani, travelling with his spokesperson Ted Goodman, sustained a fractured thoracic vertebra along with injuries to his arm and leg, The Washington Post reported. Doctors say his condition is stable but that he will require a back brace and weeks of rehabilitation.

Police have confirmed only that a woman had flagged down help earlier that evening and that troopers were already investigating her complaint when Giuliani’s crash occurred nearby. Officials stressed that the two events were separate.
However, Michael Ragusa, a former New York City council candidate and Giuliani ally, claimed on X (formerly Twitter) that Giuliani briefly stopped to help the woman and called 911 before continuing his journey.
