– Rude Health granola may contain insects; return for refund.

Full Story

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has issued a series of important advisories concerning various food items that pose potential health risks. Consumers are urged to remain vigilant as specific products face recalls due to contamination or undeclared allergens.

One critical alert has been directed at pet owners regarding a raw dog food brand produced by Rhondda Raw Ltd. The company has initiated a recall of its Beef 80/10/10 raw frozen dog food due to the discovery of Salmonella contamination. This bacterium can pose serious health risks not only to the dogs consuming it but also to humans who handle the product. Customers who have purchased these products are encouraged to examine their batch codes and ‘best before’ dates, particularly those with a best before date of August 4, 2026, under batch codes 040825/BM and 050825/BM.

A spokesman for the FSA provided essential guidance: “Rhondda Raw Ltd is recalling the above product. Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling this product. This notice explains to customers why the product is being recalled and instructs them on how to proceed if they have purchased it.” They continued to highlight the nature of Salmonella and the recommended safety measures when dealing with raw pet food, including thorough cleaning of utensils and washing hands after handling the product.

In a separate health alert, the FSA has warned consumers about a recall of “Les Florentins Chocolat Biscuits” by TJX Europe, sold in TK Maxx and Homesense stores. The biscuits contain undeclared gluten, making them potentially hazardous for individuals with coeliac disease or gluten sensitivity. The affected products include several variations of the biscuits with different best before dates ranging from June to July 2026. Customers are advised to return any purchased biscuits for a full refund.

A TJX Europe spokesperson explained, “We are recalling these products due to possible presence of gluten. While this information is stated on the original packaging, it was omitted from the additional label.” The company has committed to displaying notices in stores to inform shoppers about the risks associated with the affected products.

Another notable recall involves La Sovrana’s Vittoria Friarielli alla Napoletana, a bottled broccoli product that has been associated with the presence of Clostridium botulinum. This toxin can result in botulism, a severe form of food poisoning, which requires immediate medical attention. The affected batch code is 280325, with a best before date of March 23, 2028. Symptoms of botulism can be particularly serious and include nausea, vomiting, and difficulties in swallowing or breathing.

Lidl, a popular supermarket chain, has also alerted customers about its Red Hen Tempura Chicken Steaks potentially containing undeclared milk. The affected packs, which come in 380g four-packs with various best before dates, present a risk to anyone with milk allergies. A Lidl representative stated, “Lidl GB is recalling the above-mentioned product due to milk not being in bold on the back of pack ingredients.”

In other news, Tesco has responded to a safety concern regarding its Free From Katsu Curry Meal Kits, which may contain undeclared soya. Shoppers who have purchased these products with a best before date up to and including December 12 are urged not to consume them.

The FSA has also issued warnings regarding Neosis Schokolade Love of Dubai chocolate bars that contain undeclared peanuts, posing severe risks for peanut allergy sufferers. Retailers have been instructed to cease sales immediately and withdraw these products.

Beyond these notable cases, additional recalls have affected various products including Wall’s Mini Milk ice cream lollies by Unilever for containing allergens not disclosed in English, and Woodstock Foods’ Vanilla Crème Crowns, which contain undeclared hazelnuts. Furthermore, Rude Health Foods has recalled its Chocolate Crunch Granola due to potential insect presence, and Iceland has withdrawn its Vegetable Lasagne over concerns of plastic contamination.

In response to these product recall incidents, consumers are reminded that if they have purchased any of these recalled items, they should not consume them and should return them to the point of purchase for a refund. The FSA, alongside retail companies, remains committed to ensuring consumer safety and encourages those affected to report any health issues to their healthcare providers.

This is a timely reminder to check the food and pet food in your cupboards and return anything affected. Salmonella and undeclared allergens are serious risks for people and pets alike, so follow the FSA advice, dispose of contaminated items safely, and get refunds or replacements. If anyone has symptoms after consuming recalled products seek medical advice promptly.

This is a timely reminder to check your cupboards and pet food too. Contaminated items and undeclared allergens can cause serious illness, so follow the FSA advice, return any affected products and seek medical advice if you or a pet show symptoms. Retailers and suppliers must ensure robust checks are in place to prevent these risks.

This is a timely reminder to check recent purchases and follow the FSA guidance. Contamination and undeclared allergens can cause serious harm, so do not eat affected products and return them for a refund. If you or a pet show symptoms after consuming any recalled item seek medical or veterinary advice and keep packaging for identification. Retailers and suppliers should review their supply chain and quality controls to prevent future incidents.

Important reminders to check your cupboards and act quickly if you have any of these products. Follow the FSA guidance and do not eat affected items. Return them to the place of purchase for a refund or contact the retailer for advice. If you or a pet have symptoms after consuming a recalled product seek medical or veterinary advice promptly and report the incident to the FSA so they can track risks and prevent further harm.
